| In a national webinar last Sunday, Charles Jacobs told America’s Jews to bypass their failed “leaders,” to form an activist network across the country, and to fight anti-Semitism: “This is an emergency. The Jewish house is on fire”Jacobs described American Jews as under siege and caught in a perfect storm: “Hatred comes at us from the left, the far right, and from the Muslim community. Jews are murdered in the streets, harassed on campus, lied about in America’s public schools, defamed in the media and online. Anti-Israel-ism is surging in the Democratic Party where centrists are losing to — or joining — the progressives.” The Jewish Leadership Project (JLP) is a special project of Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT) formed in 2022 to pressure the ADL, AJC, Federations, and JCRCs to prioritize anti-Semitism and to speak honestly about leftist and Muslim Jew-hatred. We at the JLP have concluded that Jewish leaders, even after October 7, have not, will not, and cannot change. In what could be described as a “soft launch” of JLP “2.0,” the webinar laid out a plan for Jews to go on the offensive, to form grassroots groups that the JLP will link into a national network. The JLP is working to become the hub and clearing house for grassroots groups, bringing them new recruits, experts, lawyers, and researchers to help them in their local battles. It works closely with activist campus and high school groups, training them in strategic and rhetorical offense techniques. Jacobs explained how the JLP is finding and promoting young leaders from around the country and around the world. It is developing allies for the Jewish community among anti-jihadist Persians, Hindus, and Africans here, along with conservatives and evangelical Christians. Watch Jacobs’ presentation here.
